A young lady named Roxana approached the ODM staff last year about a fundraising project. The idea was a pageant that she was going to be in called ‘Reina de las Fiestas Patrias’. After reviewing her proposal we gave Roxana our approval and enthusiastic endorsement.
Roxana and her family are no strangers to ODM. She lived here for a while as a little girl after their home burned down. They had nowhere to go, and she has fond memories of her room here and of the love she felt from all the staff. Her mom was pregnant with her 6th child at the time, and they were all so grateful for the care they received.
Today Roxanne is in college, studying to be a teacher. She continues to be a very strong supporter of Open Door Mission, raising money and awareness any way she can. She along with her mother and aunt made over 300 tamales, selling them to friends and neighbors. She also goes to events asking for financial support for the Mission and pinning bows on people to say thanks. Roxanne, through her efforts has raised $1097.50 for the Mission to date. We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Roxanne for being such a wonderful Partner In Action!
