My name is Joy and I am the Director of a new program here at Open Door Mission called WorkNet. WorkNet is a 3 ½ week career planning course for people with employment issues—no work record, addiction, prostitution, criminal record, mental health issues or a tough economy.
The man in the picture name became unemployed after a sweeping lay off from the company he had faithfully worked for 28 years. Before this almost 3 decades long stint, he had been in the military so his resume and job searching skills were very rusty.
WorkNet is seeing more and more community people taking part in this program because of the economy. Classes start the first Friday of every month, excluding December and July. To sign up or for more information, I can be reached at 402-422-1111, ext. 1509. A GED or High School diploma is required and child care in place. There is no charge for this class.
