Open Door Mission Has the Most AMAZING Donors!

On Tuesday afternoon I emailed staff I was looking for a dual control refrigerator/freezer for vaccines/medications in our new Free Health and Healing Clinic. By 6pm my request had been placed on Open Door Mission's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. By 8:30pm my request had been fulfilled. Praise God!  A donor had gone to our website  www.opendoormission.org and clicked on Donate Now. In the comment section she designated the gift for the clinic refrigerator. This donor will never know what a blessing she has been to the men, women and children that live her at the Open Door Mission. Not just for now but for years to come.

Philippians 4:19, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Spiritual Awakening

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Each day Open Door Mission’s campus offers 816 safe, shelter beds to homeless men, women and children, serves over 2,000 hot, nutritious meals and provides preventive measures to more than 275 people living in poverty. In addition to meeting physical needs, we work to meet the spiritual needs of the homeless men, women and children living on our campus.
Praise God for our Chapel teams that come to serve and share the gospel. A man received Christ tonight and new that God had touched his life. It is awesome to see the Lord work in hearts.

Have You Seen the Streets of Omaha?

2015 has started out rather cold!!  We aren't finding as many people out on the streets, which is a good thing.  Most of the homeless population are at the shelters or finding someone to let them stay in their homes.

One of our first stops was with two women walking down the street, one with no coat!  She gladly accepted one of the coats we had with us. On 24th and Spencer we served a few people who were braving the cold. This week the weather was ridiculously cold, which made even less people out on the streets but those we did see outside in the cold weather were happy to receive food, coats, and scarves ALL FREE IN THE NAME OF JESUS.  At this time we don't have very many hats and gloves to pass out.  We keep spreading the word to anyone who will listen about this need!
Lindsey , one of Open Door Mission’s volunteer coordinators used to be in charge of leading the Streets of Omaha volunteers. January 2 was Lindsey's last week in the Volunteer Department.  We loved getting to know her and appreciated her service and love of the people we serve.  We wish her good luck in her new position at the mission.

Thank you for your continual prayers for those we serve each week.  We are blessed to be part of this ministry.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  Colossians 4:2

Ringing in the New Year with the King

It has been busy here at the Open Door Mission. Yet we cannot forget why we are here serving at the mission. I am a Registered Nurse and it is important to triage and care for the most needy. We have to do spiritual triage all the time for our homeless guests and students.  We need to stop and take that moment when we are talking to people and whether it is case management or an intake. If an individual responds to God's calling,  prompting them to welcome Him into their hearts, we are always ready and willing to share the gospel and give them the HOPE of eternal life through the gift of Jesus Christ. That is how i rang in the New Year. A young man who came into the mission late last night seeking safe, warm shelter sand a hot meal. Once he was settled in, he began to ask questions on how he can allow Christ into his heart. Hallalullia!
What a way to crown the year of 2014. My prayer is for all of us to be able to have the pleasure of leading many to the Lord in 2015. God bless and happy New Year!
